27 Litre Fermzilla

Overall, the setup and use of the Fermzilla is veru easy, Found out during my first brew that I had a leak from the pressure cap, re-seated lid and all good now. More brews to come. YUM

The real kit

I have used the fermentasaurus for the past 2 years and it’s been excellent. However, the usual problem of cleaning properly can be difficult due to the restricted size of the openings. The butterfly valve often blocks. None of these are major faults, but they are irritating. The fermzilla addresses everyone of these issues. The first thing you notice is that it is a strong, substantive piece of kit. Structurally stronger with what appears to be an industrial valve. The openings are big enough to insert your hand, excellent for proper cleaning. Overall this appears light years ahead of its predecessor. I have no doubt that there are many more things that can be done with the beast, however, I need to expand my knowledge on brewing.

What an awesome product, first brew already in and loving watching the krausen bubble away. Fermzilla turned up exactly when they said it would. If you buy this also order a spunding valve so you can brew under pressure straight away.

Fermzilla - the downside

I recently purchased a fermzilla from iKegger. The delivery and service form iKegger has always been great. I have bought equipment from them on 4 separate occasions now. I have nothing bad to say about them. The Fermzilla is a great product, this is the first dedicated pressure fermented I have used. Previously I have use corny kegs for pressure fermenting. I love everything about the Fermzilla except for a few small things. There is a massive warning written on the side that states it is not to be used for pressure fermenting past Nov 2021. I bought this product in March so by the letter of the law, it lasts 20 months. While this ferment er is cheap, I don't want to be purchasing a product every few years. it seems a little wasteful. My second problem is one of the O-rings is missing. They send a pack of spares in the box so it's not a massive problem. But now i don't have any spares. This is still a great value for money product, however if you have the means, a stainless steel ferment er will cost less in the long run. As a side note, I can't rate corny keg fermenters enough. They fit in the fridge, have handles and already set up for pressure transfers. The Corny will always be my go to fermenter for small batches.
